Mostly "Red Wriggler" (eisenia fatida) and Dendrobaena composting worms
These worms are fast breeders, maturing in a few weeks and laying eggs about every 10 days.
Your starter is scooped direct from our wormeries. A 1 litre pot of kitchen scrap compost with worm castings which will contain a variety of ages of worm (including eggs) who will soon start composting and breeding prolifically. We don't count the worms but we do ensure that every 1 litre pot contains sufficient to get your own vermicomposting system up and running.

TOP TIP: If you're ordering our Fresh off the Field horse manure then these surface litter worms will do a fantastic job of helping to compost it faster, either in a compost heap or in situ on your garden beds.
